This page contains important information about data collected when using the DaVinci Developer Adaptive.
What is Telemetry?
Telemetry is an approach to collect data about the usage of DaVinci Developer Adaptive. Vector uses this data to improve the performance, quality and functionality of the product. This brings benefit for you and other customers. The collected data is handled with great care and is subject to strict access restrictions.
What data does Vector collect?
Vector collects statistic data about the usage of DaVinci Developer Adaptive (performance data and workflows of the used features) and error logs (stack traces of unhandled runtime errors). All data collected is completely anonymous, ensuring that no user can be personally identified and no confidential project data is collected.
All collected data can be found in your SessionLogs folder for full transparency. This folder can be found in the Application Data directory in your home directory (<UserHome>\AppData\Roaming\Vector\DaVinciDeveloperAdaptive\SessionLogs, Windows, <UserHome>/.Vector/DaVinciDeveloperAdaptive/SessionLogs, Linux).
How does Vector collect the data?
Vector uses an “opt-in” approach. This means that you actively decide to enable the data collection. The data mentioned above is collected locally while the tool is in use. If telemetry is activated, the data will be sent to Vector.
You can control this in following menu: Window > Preferences > DaVinci Adaptive > Telemetry

Note: The setting can also be preset in the DVDevAdaptive.ini file, located in the application folder.
The data collection does not affect the performance of DaVinci Developer Adaptive.
Enabling Telemetry
Data sharing can be enabled on different levels:
User Settings | The sharing telemetry data can be controlled via the user setting in the tool (Window > Preferences > DaVinci Adaptive > Telemetry). User Settings are deactivated if Environment Variables or Presettings are set. |
Environment Variables | If environment variables are set, telemetry setting cannot be changed in the tool. Please follow the instructions of this KowledgeBase Article Telemetry in Vector Tools to adjust the settings. |
Presettings | Presettings allow the configuration of tools upon startup. If a presetting is set, telemetry settings cannot be changed within the tool. Please follow the instructions in the tool-specific activation guide to learn more about how to enable presettings: Telemetry in Vector Tools. |
