Debug a Virtual ECU

Debug a virtual ECU (vECU) directly in your IDE once you build it with Debug symbols.

Prerequisites
  • A vECU built with Debug symbols.

Procedures
  1. Set the build configuration to Debug on vVIRTUALtarget’s Build tab.

  2. Open the solution in your IDE.

  3. Attach the debugger.

A Debug build of a virtual ECU can be substantially slower than a Release build. To execute a virtual ECU with a real bus and real hardware, we highly recommend using the Release build and a VN89xx to run the CANoe simulation. For further information, see the VN8900 Product Information on the Vector website.

For detailed instructions of how to debug a virtual ECU in different runtime environments, see the vVIRTUALtarget Help, and navigate to General > AUTOSAR Classic ECUs > Debug a virtual ECU.
